On March 2, 2002 concerned citizens and community leaders gathered
at a recording studio in Fremont, California to ask their friends
and neighbors to join them in their quest to raise monies for 39
non-profit agencies in Silicon Valley. "And what better way,
than to sing that request."
New
lyrics were written to the tune, Fly me to the moon, as scores community
folks came out to lend their hearts and voices. Notables include
Congressman Mike Honda, Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge
Rene Navarro, KGO News reporter Rigo Chacon, San Jose Mercury News
columnist Leigh Weimers, Milpitas Mayor Henry Manayan, Dan Fenton,
CEO of the San Jose Convention and Visitor's Bureau, Jim Cuneen,
CEO of the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, Cindy Chavez
and Forrest Williams, San Jose City Council members, and Carl Guardino,
CEO of the Silicon Valley Manufacturing Group.
Special
thanks to Jeff Eagle of EagleVision, Will Littlejohn of Wave Group
Sound, and Hank and Patricia Olguin of Into Creative.
